Sharp MX copier printer goes offline

One of our Sharp MX MultiFunction Printer / Scanner / Fax / Copier (MX3501N) went offline on the network today, because it required Maintenance (FK3), it still works fine though and all that is needed to get it back online, until a technician arrives, is to untick “SNMP status”

Start > Printers > right click the offlined MX printer > click Properties > Configure port > Untick SNMP status

This worked perfectly. We had a Sharp MX that went offline without explaination. As soon as I unchecked the SNMP box, all documents went through successfully.

Great info! This helped me get a customer printing again. Their MX-2300N had a status of “Overdue service maintenance”. Users could copy and fax but not print. Now they are working again. Thank you!

This worked great for a MX-450n printer, however, this did not work on a MX-4501 Sharp print driver. Still looking, but at least I now know why the printer is showing offline in Printer Settings.

  15. Marshall Browning says:

Thanks. This did the trick. Just need to perform maintenance on the printer/copier.

  16. Joe says:

Worked great for a MX-4501. I am using the 3100N driver as I’ve struggled getting the 4501 driver to work in a citrix environment. Luckily, the printer doesn’t seem to care =).

Yes it helped! Is also helps for Canon IR2870/3300/2870 etc devices.
The only question is: what if we need the snmp to track the health of the device? Is there any other way to reconfigure, but not disable, this snmp protocol?
