Fix for “br_funcs.exe Ordinal not found” error!

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

After installing Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.3 (AutoCAD 2002) on a Lenovo ThinkPad T61 I got the following error at the login screen:

br_funcs.exe - Ordinal Not Found
The ordinal 39 could not be located in the dynamic link library zlib.dll.

br_funcs.exe - Ordinal Not Found The ordinal 39 could not be located in the dynamic link library zlib.dll.

Apparently the AutoCAD installation replaced the “zlib.dll” with an old version from 18-09-2000

To fix this error simply copy the newer version of zlib.dll from:
“C:\Program Files\Common Files\Lenovo\”

Why PayPal suck!

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

If you sign up for a subscription through PayPal to support PodCasts and what not, and if you then get:
A new CreditCard
Add it to PayPal
Remove the old non working one

You cancel ALL your subscriptions rather then being asked to move them to your new PRIMARY Credit Card. Tsk tsk…

4Gb SD card with buildin USB connector

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

I just bought a 4 Gb SanDisk Extreme® Ducati Edition SD Plus, for my Canon IXUS 970IS, it has an innovative 2-in-1 design that make it work as both a high-speed SD card and a USB drive. Its unique hinged cover transforms the SD card, exposing a USB 2.0 plug, for connecting directly to a PC. This is the fastest SD™ Plus card available, with sequential read/write speeds of 20 MB/second. (Based on internal testing; performance may be lower based on host device.)

Fysiske Vs. digitale kopier

unlocking a Sony Ericsson T630 with an unlock code

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

I just had to unlock an old Sony Ericsson T630 with a code from the old carrier, I got the code but the Sony Ericsson does not automatically pop up with a menu to type in the unlock codes and after a lot of digging on the net I came up empty. I then called a mobile service shop and got the following instructions:

To unlock “Net” and “Part of net” you have to:
1. navigate the joystick left
2. then push star (*)
3. then push star (*) again
4. navigate the joystick left

Now you will see a menu with unlocking options!

Save Windows XP! The clock is ticking

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

Microsoft will end OEM and shrink-wrapped sales of Windows XP on June 30, 2008, forcing users to shift to Vista. (System builders, meaning those who do white-box PCs, can sell XP through December 31.) Don’t let that happen!

Update Jan 28th:
How to get Windows XP after June 30

Update Feb 9th:
Microsoft Responds to the petition!
